“Law school was the plan for a while. After a year and a half of working, it felt like the right decision. [I had to give up] time with my family, [and] independent studies.”
Getting back into the “swing” of things… | Lots of coffee. I allowed myself to lose sleep for the first few weeks until I found a regimen that worked for me. |
Biggest shock of coming back to school… | How approachable the professors are (shout out to Kip Cornwell). |
Greatest challenges in law school… | Being able to allot enough time for my personal relationships (marriage). |
Greatest resources… | Family and friends who were incredibly understanding and patient, while I was confused and disoriented. |
Law school and your personal life… | I came to understand that there is only so much return for the effort I put into school. Good grades are important, but a healthy relationship with my significant other is infinitely more valuable. Once that was clear, my priorities were easier to arrange (e.g. a night or two away from studying is fine). |
Your Story/Advice… | In some ways, knowing nothing of the law school experience and the legal profession has been a boon. I had very limited, blurry expectations, because I knew nothing of what was to come. Because of that, this whole experience is totally foreign, and continually exciting. |
